Verata
Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-16
These terms govern your use of Verata, a real-time speech-translation service. By using Verata you agree to them.
1. The service
Verata translates spoken language in real time and shows it as on-screen subtitles, with optional synthesized voice. It is offered as a communication aid.
2. Interpretation aid — not a medical device
Verata assists communication. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for a qualified human interpreter or for professional clinical judgment.
Machine translation can be wrong, incomplete, or omit nuance. For anything safety-critical — diagnoses, medication and doses, consent, legal statements — the treating professional remains responsible for confirming meaning through a qualified interpreter or other reliable means. Do not rely on Verata alone for such decisions.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Credits and billing
Verata is prepaid: you top up a credit balance and usage is charged by the minute of live translation, after any free monthly allowance. Prices are shown in Korean won (KRW), inclusive of VAT.
Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Verata unlawfully, attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer it, or resell it without a written agreement.
6. Availability
The service is provided on a best-effort basis and may change, be suspended, or be discontinued. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Verata is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for the consequences of translation errors.
Except where the law provides otherwise, our total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Mandatory consumer-protection rights guaranteed to you by law are not limited by this clause.
8. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are subject to the Suwon District Court, Ansan Branch — which has jurisdiction over the provider's place of business — as the court of first instance. A consumer may instead file suit in the court with jurisdiction over their address at the time of filing, as provided by the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified before they take effect. Questions: use the contact below.
